Lewis is a very professional and honest electrician! He came the same day for a quote and pointed out our pool was too close to the switchboard, which is against the law, and sent us the legislation by email. We're so grateful for Lewis's professional and kind heart.

FAQs

When should I have my switchboard inspected or upgraded?

1

Your switchboard should be inspected if it is old, damaged, frequently tripping, missing safety switches or unable to accommodate additional electrical loads. Older switchboards may not provide the level of protection expected from modern electrical installations. Bonus Electrical can inspect your Gold Coast switchboard and recommend appropriate upgrades where required.

What is the difference between a circuit breaker and a safety switch?

2

A circuit breaker primarily protects electrical wiring and equipment from excessive current, while a safety switch is designed to help protect people from electric shock by detecting leakage of electrical current. Bonus Electrical can inspect existing switchboard protection and install or upgrade safety switches where required.

How do I know if my switchboard is unsafe?

3

Signs that your switchboard may require attention include frequent tripping, burning smells, buzzing or crackling noises, damaged components, overheating, corrosion, exposed wiring or a lack of safety switches. If you notice any of these warning signs, contact a qualified Gold Coast electrician for an inspection rather than attempting to work on the switchboard yourself.

Can you upgrade my switchboard to improve electrical safety?

4

Yes. Bonus Electrical provides switchboard upgrades and electrical safety services across the Gold Coast. Depending on the condition of the existing installation, an upgrade may include replacing outdated protective devices, installing safety switches, improving circuit protection and addressing identified electrical faults. All work is assessed and completed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable Australian electrical requirements.
