Cat6 handles most home and office networks fine, but if the run is going to a server room, speeds are likely to increase down the track, or the cable run is long, we'll spec Cat6a instead rather than defaulting to whatever's cheapest. We also keep data cabling separated from power circuits wherever we can, since running them side by side introduces interference that shows up as dropouts later, and every cable is labelled at both ends so troubleshooting doesn't mean pulling ceiling tiles to trace a run.

Every point is tested with a cable certifier before we call the job finished, not just plugged in and assumed to work, so you know the run actually performs to spec rather than finding out when a device won’t connect. For office fit-outs and larger jobs we terminate into a proper patch panel rather than a tangle of loose cables, and hand over documentation showing what’s run where.
