Video intercoms are worth the extra cost over audio-only in most cases now - you can see who's at the door or gate before you answer, and it's a genuinely useful upgrade over a buzzer that just unlocks blind. Cabling is the part that actually determines how well an intercom performs later - a gate intercom needs a cable run that can handle real distance and weather exposure, and an apartment system needs each unit wired back to a shared entry panel, not daisy-chained in a way that makes one fault take out the whole building. We run new cabling to suit the system rather than retrofitting a system to whatever’s already in the wall, and everything gets tested and compliance-checked before we hand it over.
