Every split system needs a dedicated circuit sized to the unit's actual running and starting current, not just whatever spare breaker happens to be in the switchboard — an 8.5kW system pulls a lot more than a small bedroom unit, so we check the manufacturer's specifications before running the circuit rather than guessing off the kW rating alone. We fit an isolation switch within sight of the outdoor unit as required, plus one at the indoor unit where the install calls for it, so the system can be safely isolated for servicing without switching off half the house.

We coordinate directly with the air conditioning installer or refrigeration mechanic so the electrical connection is ready when they need it and the cable route between the switchboard and outdoor unit is planned before either of us starts, rather than working around each other on the day. Every circuit gets RCD protection and is tested before the system is handed over, and we can also upgrade an existing circuit or switchboard where an older board doesn’t have the capacity for a new or larger system.
