SERVICE AREAS
Bathroom heat lamps sit in one of the wettest, riskiest zones in the house electrically, so where the fitting sits relative to the shower and bath decides what IP rating and clearance apply under AS/NZS 3000 — get that wrong and it's a compliance fail as well as a shock risk. Combination heat lamp/exhaust units draw more current than a standard light circuit is rated for, so we run these on their own dedicated circuit back to the switchboard rather than tapping into the existing bathroom lighting, and we fit a properly rated isolation switch outside the room so the unit can be safely isolated for globe changes or servicing. We wire timer or sensor controls where you want them so the heat lamps don’t get left running long after someone’s left the bathroom, and we check the ceiling cavity has adequate clearance and ventilation around the unit before it goes in, since heat lamps generate real heat and need space to run safely. Every installation is tested and signed off against the wet-area requirements before we call the job done.
